New classes in Ukrainian schools: Preparing for the worst
The invasion by Russia has had a significant impact on education in Ukraine. As a result, male and female high school students in the Western region are now taking weapons classes as a precautionary measure against any potential threat.
Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and the threat posed by Russia, the country's education system has been significantly impacted. Online classes were introduced due to the conflict rather than solely due to the pandemic. In the western region of Ukraine, officials have taken a unique approach by introducing war-related subjects into school curricula.

These subjects include interactive rifle and pistol shooting exercises and drone piloting using specialised software. Svitlana Onyshchuk, the governor of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, announced this initiative on social media.
Onyshchuk has introduced training sessions in thirty schools in the western region. Unlike the east, this area has been relatively peaceful, where fighting has been ongoing for 23 months. These classes are part of a broader effort to "enhance skills in military and patriotic education".
