Climate Map of Warsaw Schools: A tool to aid eighth-graders in choosing their next school
Warsaw City Hall has developed the Climate Map of Schools, a tool designed to assist students in selecting the educational institution that best aligns with their needs and values.
While the results of the Matura exam are important, they shouldn’t be the sole factor in choosing a school. Many students and parents now recognise the significance of the overall environment in secondary education. It's crucial for young people to feel comfortable and safe and enjoy attending classes. This means looking beyond the prestige of a given school and considering factors such as its vibe and staff attitude, as well as available extracurricular activities, excursions, and other amenities.

Some parents and students find the Ranking of LGBTQ-Friendly Schools, prepared annually by the GrowSPACE Foundation, to be a helpful indicator. Additionally, the newly published Climate Map of Schools can be a valuable tool for future secondary and technical students in Warsaw.
Climate Map of Schools is not about ecology
The phrase "Climate Map of Schools" might initially evoke thoughts of environmental and ecological issues. However, contrary to this assumption, the tool is not intended to identify the most environmentally friendly schools.
"This map provides insight into what a school is really like," says Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw. "It highlights various elements important to young people. When students search for a secondary school, they often consider several factors: rankings, location, and the school’s profile. However, the atmosphere is equally crucial, and this is what the tool aims to showcase," Kaznowska explains, as quoted by tokfm.pl.
The importance of the school’s vibe
The term "Climate Map of Schools" refers to the overall vibe within individual institutions. According to the project's website, 129 Warsaw secondary schools, including general secondary schools, technical, and first-degree trade schools, have joined. This represents 80% of the establishments participating in this year's first-grade recruitment process.
The Climate Map of Schools allows users to see which Warsaw secondary, technical, and trade schools offer vegan meals and volunteer activities, provide pink boxes, have quiet zones, or participate in international exchanges. The tool is completely free to use.
