Rainbow made of socks in Germany’s Kamenz church. Unique purpose
A total of 1,600 pairs of socks in different colours and sizes were placed in a church in Kamenz, Germany to show support for non-heteronormative people.
A rainbow created from 1,600 pairs of socks can be admired in a German Klosterkirche in Kamenz. They are meant to show support and solidarity with the LGBT community. After the exhibition ends on November 24, the socks will be sold and the money raised will be used to buy a new peace bell.

Rainbow-coloured socks in church
As we read on @teczanadkosciolem Instagram, "under the slogan 'socks for the bells' knitters from all over Germany made a total of 1,600 pairs of socks in various colours and sizes". Importantly, no one seems to be offended by the sight of rainbow socks on the floor of the church.
The local faithful community know that the money raised from the sale of the knitted socks will be used to buy a new peace bell. It is to be cast from bronze and dedicated on 19 May 2025. The solemn mass is one of the highlights of the celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the town of Kamenz.
