Popular holiday destination for many Romanians faces drought. Authorities impose restrictions
In Greece, a favorite holiday destination for many Romanians, there are significant problems due to drought. Because it hasn’t rained in recent months, the land has dried up across almost the entire country.
The largest water reservoir on the island of Naxos has dried up. Further south, on the island of Karpathos, authorities have imposed restrictions on filling swimming pools.

And in the north of Thasos island, authorities are seeking a unit to desalinate seawater to make it drinkable. These pieces of equipment are increasingly difficult to find due to production issues.
Greece, which expects millions of tourists this year, is also facing an early and very aggressive start to the wildfire season, driven by climate change.
