A man pushed activists through with a truck
In July 2023, environmental activists from the "Letzte Generation" group organised a protest. As 40ton.net reports, the activists' demands were to devolve decision-making on energy sources to "fair community councils, including representatives of different age groups, genders, education levels and ethnic backgrounds".
The activists glued themselves to the roadway, preventing cars from passing. One impatient truck driver could not stand the protest and decided to push the activists through with his vehicle, disregarding their lives and health. Some "Letzte Generation" members recorded the 41-year-old man's dangerous behaviour.
A few hours after the incident, the man was arrested. He was charged with attempted bodily harm and wilful infringement of road safety. The truck driver was sacked and heard a court sentence on Monday 23 October. He was banned from driving for 12 months and will also have to pay a fine of three months' salary at his then workplace. As no specific amount was given, we can only assume that this will be several thousand euros.
