Concern for the environment is important for our society. More and more people are trying to avoid plastic packaging or use public transport or a bicycle on their way to work. Activists resort to various methods to fight for a better planet. Sometimes to very radical ones. The recent events in Berlin are a good example.

The German newspaper Tagesspiegel reported on what happened on 8 June 2023 in the Pankow district of Berlin. According to the police reports, a number of car owners reported to the police station that day. They alerted officers that their cars' tyres had been punctured by someone during the night.

Radical action of climate activists

Berlin police officers have confirmed that up to 35 cars were damaged by a group of climate activists on the night of 7/8 June 2023. This took place in the area of Heinrich Boell Strasse in the district of Pankow. The activists took expensive car models, mainly SUVs, as their target.

They boasted about their actions on Twitter. The activists published a video on the social network adding an infuriating comment referring to the sound made by air leaking from a punctured tyre: "listen to this beautiful hiss".

According to the Tagesspiegel newspaper, a similar incident took place in 2022. The activists damaged the tyres of 25 cars in Berlin back then. They also left leaflets behind the windscreen wipers of the cars, on which they wrote about the harmfulness of the vehicles to the climate.
