Catholics in Poland are protesting against concerts of metal bands on Corpus Christi Day. Worshiping Jesus should not interfere with blasphemy, praising Lucifer and sexual deviancy.

Mystic Festival 2023 will take place from 7-10 June at the Gdansk Shipyard. It is a Polish festival featuring all varieties of metal music. During the four days of the event, more than 90 bands including Behemoth, Ghost, Testament and Gojira, among others, will perform in front of thousands of fans.

The Mystic Festival is a thorn in the "Polska Katolicka Nie Laicka" ("Poland should catholic, not secular") religious organisation's side. Its members call it a "festival of Satan" and claim it is blasphemous and anti-church. The slogan "the terror of Mystic Festival" has spread among members of this Catholic association.

The organisation "Polska Katolicka Nie Laicka" particularly dislikes the line-up of the festival and its date. The metal band which is known for tearing up the Bible (Behemoth) will perform in front of an audience on Corpus Christi Day. That's outrageous.

NO to blasphemy! Specifically not on Corpus Christi Day!

"While millions of Catholics in Poland will be worshipping the Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in Eucharistic processions, others in the Gdansk Shipyard intend to blaspheme God, praise Lucifer's rebellion, sadism, suicide and sexual deviancy. The organisation of the Mystic Festival is part of the great action of ideological diversion that has been carried out in Poland since 1989. Its aim is to destroy the religious and moral foundations of the Polish state and nation, especially the Polish youth," writes "Polska Katolicka Nie Laicka" in its petition.

Festival organisers reveal that this is not the first time they have faced protesting Catholics. Congregation's Petitions have failed to achieve anything so far.

"We have the right to celebrate good music".

Arkadiusz Hronowski, one of the festival organisers and creator of the B90, commented on the protests by Catholics in 'Wyborcza':

"Poland is not completely overtaken by the Catholic religion and I see no reason for the whole of society to submit to a church holiday. As long as we live in a free country and everyone can do what they want. I do not know the organisation or the content of the petition. Like everyone else they have the right to protest, but we have the right to celebrate good music. If I don't like something, I don't participate, but I don't get in anyone's way, I don't interfere. We organise Mystic Festival for our fans, three generations take part," said Hronowski
